The secret to staying motivated all days

Are you struggling to stay motivated? No problems.

We know firsthand that there are days when staying motivated could be challenging.

You’ve got to get up early, ride in the rain, and push yourself even when your legs are tired.

Perhaps you're no longer seeing the results from your hard work, or maybe your bike needs a tune up.

Whatever the case may be, there's always a way to get back on track and start riding.

If you're looking for motivation, keep on reading.
We'll take a look at some tips that will help you stay motivated as a cyclist by focusing on your goals.

Cycling motivation

Tips#1 Set your goals

One ultimate strategy is setting an achievable goal.

While it may feel good just getting out there every day, it's important to have something specific in mind so that you know what success looks like. It’s important to use SMART goals to remain motivated.

How is that, you might wonder?

  • Specific: Your cycling goal should be specific and concise with a specific vision from the very beginning.
Whether it’s to lose weight, stay fit, ride faster, reach a new milestone.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t set multiple goals either.
  • Measurable: You should record every step of your ride to make sure you keep track of your progress.
  • Attainable: Your goals should be achievable and realistic. Yes, you can aim for the moon but no pressure! Set yourself a goal that you can attain so that you don’t feel demotivated when you don’t reach it.
  • Relevant: Whatever your goal is, try to make it relevant to what you’re doing.

Timely: You can keep up with your constant progress when you set a specific date or a deadline.

Tip#2 Find a cycling partner or ride with other cyclists:

Motivation is contagious!

Having someone (or someone's) there who is as dedicated to their cycling routine as much as yourself makes it so much easier when those days come along where staying on track feels impossible.

Find someone who is more committed than you are (or as committed as you are)
Your partner or friend can help keep you on track by providing moral support and motivation during difficult moments.

They also know what your goals are and how much time they take so they can encourage you when needed.

Tip#3 Reward yourself from time to time

Another winning strategy is rewarding yourself with something after completing your ride or achieving one of your goals.

Your reward could be anything from treating yourself with a healthy meal or buying a new cycling kit.

If you go for the second option, you know that you’re in the right place, right?
Buying a new cycling apparel works like magic!

Tip#4 Take care of yourself

We all have journeys of self-discovery. It's important to take time out every so often to appreciate the things we've learned about ourselves, and what progress we're making on this journey.

There are many ways you can do that.

It's not always easy taking steps towards discovering who we are or want us so sometimes just remember that every now and then it's necessary for us all to stop and show ourselves some appreciation.

Tip#5 Check off items on the list to feel accomplished

Why is checking off things off the list satisfactory?
Simply, That little check mark gives you a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

It could be a sense of pride that you’ve reached a certain level of milestone achievement you’ve always wanted to.
Therefore, you will feel motivated to keep it up no matter what.
